Meeting Your Vehicle De-Pollution Requirements At Our Authorised Treatment Facility End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Regulations
The ELV Directive aims to reduce the amount of waste from vehicles (cars and vans) when they are finally scrapped. In particular, it requires that last owners must be able to dispose of their vehicles free of charge and requires producers to pay all or a significant part of the free take-back from 2007. The Directive also sets rising reuse, recycling and recovery targets and restricts the use of hazardous substances in both new vehicles and replacement vehicle parts.
Earlier legislation effective from March 2005 required vehicle producers to have available networks of facilities where last owners of their brands of vehicles may take them for treatment at the end of their lives. These facilities are required to provide this service free of charge from 1 January 2007.
As the number of end of life vehicles and abandoned vehicles continues to rise year on year so has our financial investment and professional commitment to dealing with this environmental matter. End of Life Vehicle processing has been carried out at our Authorised Treatment Facility in Canterbury, Kent since 2003. We aim to provide a complete solution for the de-pollution, recovery and recycling of ELVs as well as collection, storage, release and in certain circumstances the authorised scraping (de-pollute and recycle) of abandoned vehicles. We can accommodate temporary storage up to 100 vehicles and have in the last 12 months processed approximately 4,000 ELVs.
