The contract, awarded by Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions, is in preparation for the Games in 2012 and will transform the skyline of the Lower Lea Valley forever. The remaining pylons belong to EDF Energy and are situated outside of what will be the Olympic Park. The removal of the pylons is the end of a two-year power line construction project which has seen power switched to underground cables which run through two new 6km long tunnels. These final pylons are contracted to be dismantled by 27 July 2009 exactly three years prior to the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
